Serious Crash in Ellicott City Sends Two to Shock Trauma

COLUMBIA, MD – Rescuers worked quickly to extricate the driver of a vehicle which was struck by a trash truck, critically injuring her.

At approximately 6:30, rescuers and paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Route 108 and Centennial Lane in Ellicott City for a personal injury accident. As units were responding, additional information advised that the driver was entrapped, and additional units were dispatched.

Fire & Rescue units arrived to find a car struck by a trash truck, with the driver heavily entrapped in the vehicle. Due to the driver’s injuries, a medevac helicopter was requested to fly the patient. A second rescue unit was requested to assist with extricating the driver of the car.

The car’s driver was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition; the driver of the trash truck was also transported to Shock Trauma in serious condition by ambulance. A third patient, a passenger in the trash truck, was transported to Howard County General Hospital with minor injuries.
