I was honored to be a part of the HCDFRS team sent to assist the Nationl Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)’s Memorial Weekend 2011. I was assigned to work with under Dave Statter, with Tiger Schmittendorf and Anthony Correia; our role was to use the power of social media (primarily Facebook and Twitter) to share the event with those who were unable to attend in person.
Other people from HCDFRS assisted in a variety of manners; these included the command staff, transportation, family escort,command post/communications, and logistics. Several other members played in The Fire Brigade Pipes & Drums, a regional pipe and drum corp composed of firefighters.
